  • Lews Castle - Groundworks
    Overlooking Stornoway harbour, the impressive Lews Castle (not Lewis Castle) was built in the mid 1800's by a rich merchant called Sir James Matheson of the Jardine Matheson company. Sir James bought the island of Lewis in 1844, developed this wonderful woodland area and built his mock Tudor castle. The Castle is now undergoing major renovation by contractor Graham Construction. Duncan Mackay and Sons Ltd are providing all Groundwork Services.

    All groundworks associated with the Windfarm on Cawdor Estate, Nairn

  • Maaruig - Urgha Water Main Rehab
    The Isle of Harris, while offering enviable scenery, is not known for offering ideal ground conditions in which to lay a water main. The pipeline was to be layed from a newly constructed pump house in Urgha over a mountain to the rural community of Maaruig.

  • Newmarket, Stornoway. Water Main Rehab
    Newmarket, a suburb of Stornoway had been prone to water main bursts on the old asbestos pipework.

  • Nicolson Institute, Stornoway. Service Diversions
    Part of the FMP (Western Isles Schools Joint Venture), Duncan Mackay and Sons Ltd were tasked with all utility service diversions in the early development at The Nicolson Institute. Further work included all groundwork, drainage, sewer systems not only at the Nicolson Institute but other schools within the FMP contract.

  • Pentland Road Wind Farm and Bennadrove Landfill, Stornoway. Groundworks
    Jones Bros of Wales, employed the services of Duncan Mackay and Sons Ltd to create access roads out to the site designated for 6 wind turbines in addition to the expansion of the Bennadrove Landfill site

  • The Isle of Scalpay. Access to the Lighthouse. Groundworks
    In 1787 the Isle of Scalpay Lighthouse construction began, but in 2013 Duncan Mackay and Sons Ltd were instructed to improve the access to the Lighthouse for as much as anyone the huge amount of visitors that the Lighthouse attracts each year.

  • Tong Outfall. Pipelaying
    To improve the sewerage outfall from the community of Tong, Duncan Mackay and Sons Ltd were the preferred sub contractor of Ross-Shire Engineering on behalf of Scottish Water

  • Monan Wind Farm
